BAKIR is an electronic music trio that blends North African rhythms from the Maghreb with Middle Eastern melodies and Mediterranean maqams.
Composed of traditional Moroccan instruments (guembri, karkabous, bendir), 'electric' classical instruments (guitar, violin and sax) and an electronic set-up (rhythm boxes, sequencers and synthesizers) BAKIR offers an electro-trad music that navigates between oriental, ethnic and industrial sounds, leading the audience to dance to the point of trance.
There's a natural chemistry between the three musicians, who have been working together for ten years on the collective label Baklawa Music.
Set between Morocco and Marseilles, BAKIR brings the Maghreb musical universe up to date with Hicham's gnawa vocals and the skills of instrumentalists Yoan and Alex, creating original compositions with traditional influences.
